What makes a Nation Great?
This question is based on the presumption that America has been the greatest nation on earth. Has it ever been the greatest? What makes a nation become the greatest? Is it the size of the land and its territories or the population count? Is it what Americans think of their nation that makes it great? No, absolutely not! A nation's greatness is based on what God says.
God’s Conditions for Choosing a Nation
"Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel." (Ex. 19:7-8)
"For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all the peoples; but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt." (Deut. 7:6-8)
God has established criteria and conditions for blessing a nation. It is not based on the size of the land, its territories or its population, but solely on the nation's obedience to the voice of God and keeping His covenant. God is just and fair to every nation. "Then Peter opened his mouth and said: In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him." (Acts 10:34-35)
"Blessed is the nation who God is the LORD, And the people whom He has chosen as His own inheritance." (Psm. 33:12)
God blessed America because of its Christian Foundation
The United States of America is the only nation on earth that is founded on Christian faith and principles as evidenced by the charters of our Founding Fathers.
The Mayflower Compact
